Bubly Bounce vs. Coffee: Caffeine, Flavors, & Taste

Ever since energy drinks blasted onto the scene, coffee has lost its monopoly on caffeine. Still, energy drinks’ high caffeine content can be off-putting for many people. They can try Bubly Bounce as a low caffeine alternative.

The main difference between Bubly Bounce and coffee is that Bubly Bounce is naturally flavored and caffeinated sparkling water. In contrast, coffee is a high-caffeine beverage extracted from ground coffee beans. Coffee is usually served hot, while Bounce is served cold. Bubly Bounce comes pre-bottled, and coffee can be prepared at home.

Caffeine in Bubly Bounce vs. The Equivalent Amount of Coffee

Bubly Bounce contains 35 mg of caffeine which equals 1/3rd a cup of coffee. An espresso shot has 90mg of caffeine, and most coffee beverages contain a single shot of espresso.

If you drink three servings of Bubly Bounce, you’ll get almost the same caffeine as a standard cup of coffee.

26 Of The Most Asked Coffee Questions [Answered]

What Is the Caffeine Source in Bubly?

While energy drinks usually contain synthetic caffeine produced in factory-scale labs overseas, Bubly Bounce contains natural caffeine.

Organic caffeine is extracted by heating coffee beans. Caffeine extraction methods may vary based on scale, but the source for almost all natural caffeine is coffee and, in rare cases, cocoa.

The medical community has not reached a consensus on whether natural or synthetic caffeine has different effects.

The significance of natural caffeine here is that it makes Bubly Bounce all-natural, as nothing in the beverage is synthetic.

Is Bubly Bounce Considered an Energy Drink?

Bubly Bounce lies between the triangle of sparkling water, soft drink, and energy drink.

It contains more caffeine than Pepsi and other cola beverages but far less than the caffeine in Red Bull. Bubly Bounce cannot be an energy drink because it is a slight variation of sparkling water. It doesn’t contain enough caffeine or sweetener, making it unlike any energy drink.

Diversity of Flavors & Drink Types

Bubly Bounce and coffee both have different variations. Where Bubly’s variety comes from a broad range of flavors, coffee’s variation is in its types.

Let’s look at the different drinks within each category.

Bubly Bounce Flavors

All Bubly Bounce drinks are essentially the same type of beverage served at the same suggested temperature and prepared with similar methods.

  • Mango Passion Fruit
  • Triple Berry
  • Blood Orange Grapefruit
  • Blueberry Pomegranate
  • Citrus Cherry

You’ll notice that coffee has fewer flavors but a larger variety.

Why?

Because coffee can be made using different preparation methods. Let’s take a look.

Coffee Flavors

  • Chocolate
  • Caramel
  • Coffee Bean

Coffee Types

  • Milk and espresso beverages – half and half, coffee with creamer, etc.
  • Iced coffee with syrup beverages – mocha frappe, caramel frappe, etc.
  • Black coffee – Brewed coffee, pour-over coffee, Moka pot coffee, etc.
  • Cold-brewed coffee – Cold coffee with or without milk
  • Water-diluted espresso – Americano, Long Black, etc.
  • Foamed milk coffee – Latte, Cappuccino, etc.

Coffee vs. Bubly Bounce: Which is Better for Energy?

Coffee is better for energy because it contains sugar alongside caffeine. Sugar provides energy, and caffeine makes it instantly accessible to you. Bubly Bounce doesn’t have sugar, so its caffeine affects your alertness only.

But nothing is 100% good without a few drawbacks!

The greatest disadvantage of coffee is that the crash it causes is a combination of a caffeine crash and a sugar crash. Bubly has a lower caffeine dosage, so you don’t crash and become instantly drowsy when its effect wears off.

What Are Some Caffeine Alternatives to Bubly Bounce and Coffee?

Many office employees and gamers switch from coffee to Bubly Bounce to prevent sugar crashes and minimize post-caffeine drowsiness.

Still, caffeine creates a low-high alertness cycle no matter its source. If you want to be more focused, alert, and energetic, you need caffeine alternatives.

B Vitamin Supplements

Many habitual coffee drinkers use caffeine to medicate the symptoms of B vitamin deficiencies. From drowsiness to focus issues, plenty of issues that coffee or bubbly Bounce temporarily fixes are better solved with a consistent regiment of vitamin B supplements.

Here are different B vitamins and adjacent food sources:

  • Thiamin (a.k.a. B1) – Found in fish, beans, and lentils. But since you can’t have these in your office, you can use a yogurt shake or frozen yogurt dessert to get the same vitamin.
  • Riboflavin (a.k.a. B2) – Also found in yogurt, B2 is a “dairy vitamin” that you can get from most organic milk beverages.
  • Niacin (a.k.a. B3) – This is a meat vitamin but is also found in nuts, seeds, and whole grains. For snacking access, you can use a whole grain granola bar.
  • Pantothenic acid (a.k.a. B5) – This, too, is like Vitamin B3 and can be found in granola bars and fortified cereal.
  • Pyridoxine (a.k.a. B6) – From chickpeas to liver, this vitamin is found in most food items you cannot consume in the same situation as coffee or bubbly Bounce. Getting it from vitamin gummies is much better.
  • Biotin (a.k.a. B7) – A trail mix featuring walnuts or a fortified cereal bar will boost Vitamin B7.
  • Folate [folic acid] (a.k.a. B9) – Found in whole grain bars, sunflower seeds, and peanuts.
  • Cobalamin (a.k.a. B12) – You can get this from yogurt, cheese sticks, or low-fat milk.

Cold Water

If you insist on a beverage to replace your Bubly Bounce, you can use cold water to yank you into a state of alertness.

The temperature of the water can promote instant focus while being hydrated allows you to avoid drowsiness in the long run. You can add an electrolyte beverage to your routine to maximize water retention.

Maca

Maca has been used as a mental focus and cognitive ability booster for centuries. Like coffee, it has roots in forgotten history, with science catching up to its benefits later.

Maca root is available in powder, tablet, and beverage (tea) form.

Ginseng

Ginseng is also a root-like Maca that enhances mental function.

It is unclear whether Maca can give a similar metabolic boost as caffeine. Non-scientific reporting suggests that it does help people maintain focus and improve recall.

Ginseng is best consumed in tea, and if you don’t want to boil the root and flavor it, you can buy a bottle of ginseng drink.

Caffeine-Free Nootropics

There is serious interest in stimulants that improve mental function, and caffeine is just one of those supplements.

Nootropics feature cocktails of cognitive ability boosters like L-Theanine but often also have caffeine (since it too is a nootropic). Mind® is a caffeine-free nootropic supplement that eliminates brain fog.

FAQs

Who Makes Bubly

Bubly and Bubly Bounce are made by PepsiCo. You know, the same company that manufactures half of America’s leading soft drinks! So it is reasonable to be skeptical about how healthy it is.

Does bubly bounce hydrate you?

Since bubly is carbonated and contains caffeine, some people think it can have the opposite effect when it comes to hydration. Although water is more than adequate for hydration, bubly bounce is a suitable drink for hydration.

Is bubly bounce discontinued?

As of July 12, 2022 bubly bounce is still an active product you can purchase from places like Amazon.
