Health Canada and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) are collaborating to tackle the issue of unauthorized imports of Prime Energy drinks. The brand, co-founded by YouTube personalities Logan Paul and KSI, is among six energy drink labels that have been recalled by the Canadian government. The recall was prompted by violations related to caffeine content and bilingual labeling requirements.
Canadian regulations stipulate that a single-serving can of an energy drink should not contain more than 180 milligrams of caffeine. However, Prime Energy’s 12-ounce can contains 200 milligrams, exceeding the permitted limit. Additionally, the recalled brands failed to comply with Canada’s bilingual labeling laws, which mandate that food products carry information in both English and French.
Logan Paul took to Instagram to address the recall, asserting that Prime Energy is not officially sold in Canada. He argued that any of their products appearing on Canadian shelves must be the result of unauthorized or illegal imports. He emphasized that their beverages are compliant with the regulations of each country where they are officially distributed. Other brands implicated in the recall, such as 5-Hour Energy, Celsius, 3D, and Sting have also attributed the issue to unauthorized imports.
