How great is it that we finally have an energy drink that’s healthy?! Now no matter who you are or what you’re doing, you’ll have the juice you need to keep going. The only problem is it isn’t easy to figure out the best mix of powder and water or avoid a chalky consistency. How many scoops and water should you mix together in your bottle?
Scoop Size for Single Serving | # of Scoops | Water to Mix | |
16oz Container | 7g | 1 | 14oz |
24oz Container | 7g | 1 ½ | 25oz (Not a typo) |

How Much Water for 1 Scoop of G FUEL?
How much water you need is different from how much water you want. The amount that you want will be based on your taste, but the amount of water you need will be how much is necessary to dissolve 1 scoop of powder, which is about 7g or 1 tablespoon full.
G fuel is composed mostly of fruit extract powders, a gram of which can dissolve in 100ml (3.38oz) of water, with most fruits.
On the back of your G fuel tub, the company suggests 1 scoop per 12-16oz of water. This accounts for the amount of water you need to actually dissolve the powder while watering it down just a bit so that it isn’t overpoweringly sweet.
However, as we’ll go over in more detail in the next section, we suggest filling your 16oz bottle with 14oz of water instead.
How Many G FUEL Scoops Should Go in My Water Bottle?
If you’re new to G FUEL, then according to the G FUEL company, you should treat their products as you would a cup of coffee because they have similar amounts of caffeine. They recommend starting with a single serving (1 scoop) per day just to see how it affects you. Then, from 1 scoop, you can increase the number of servings according to how much energy you need.
After you’ve determined you need more than 1 scoop, the number of scoops you need will depend on the size of the bottle you’re using. We’ll go over the best number of scoops and water amounts to mix for 16oz, 24oz, and 32oz containers, based on the advice of Electroshock, a well-known G FUEL promoter.
16oz (500ml) G FUEL Shaker Bottle
The G fuel company suggests only putting 1 scoop in a 16oz bottle, and we won’t argue with that. However, instead of filling your cup all the way with water, try filling your 16oz bottle with 14oz of water, then filling it with ice cubes until the water line reaches the first ridge where your lid screws on. This will chill your drink and consistently add just the right amount of water as it melts.
24oz (700ml) “Tall Boy” Shaker Bottles
Some of you might drink G FUEL throughout the day so you have the 24oz Tall Boy shakers instead of the standard 16oz bottles.
If you wanted a single serving, you would just have to fill the cup to the 16oz water line, but if you want the same consistency at the full 24oz, fill your bottle with water past the 700ml line to the first ridge. Then, add only a few ice cubes. This will give you the perfect water ratio of 25oz (750ml) to add exactly 1 ½ scoops of G fuel.
28oz Blenderbottles
Some of you already have the 28oz BlenderBottles for protein powder and might want to use that instead of buying another container.
For this size, 28oz (828ml) is just 78ml more than the 24oz bottle, so you should add 1 ½ scoops and a little more than ⅛ of a scoop. Not as convenient as the 24oz, but still has the same consistency if you fill the bottle to approximately 26oz and add your ice.
32oz Bottles
Finally, for those who need much more than 16oz of G FUEL throughout the day, but are looking for the same consistency as the 16oz shakers, you can just add 2 full scoops to 28oz of water followed by ice cubes to bring the water line to the 32oz line.
Does G FUEL Dissolve Better in Cold or Hot Water?
Your G FUEL powder is incredibly easy to dissolve in water whether it’s hot or cold because it isn’t made with sugar. Sugar requires a liter (33oz) of lukewarm water to dissolve 1800g of sugar, but as we said before, the fruit powders in G FUEL only need about 100ml to dissolve 1g of each kind of fruit powder, even at room temperature.
Still, to speed the process along, warmer water is the way to go. In chemical dissolution, it’s all about giving the water the energy to take apart the powder’s bonds, and warmer temperatures will speed up the particles to make the process easier and faster.
How Long Should I Shake the G FUEL Powder?
It’s pretty clear the G FUEL company wants their product to be shaken and not stirred considering all they sell are shaker bottles. It’s just the best way to dissolve the powder. The question is how long should you shake the bottle to get everything dissolved and mixed up?
The recommended amount of time varies between 45 seconds and 2 minutes. 1 minute is usually enough.
The time can vary for you based on the size of your container and the amount of powder you use. With more powder, you’ll have to shake longer to provide the energy the water needs to break down the bonds in the powder and establish new bonds in the chemical dissolution process.
How to Avoid a Chaulky Texture
The typical culprit behind your chalky G FUEL is having too much powder for the amount of water you have. We’ve talked about what the right amount of water to use usually is, but you can still get a chalky texture if you use the scoop wrong.
That might sound silly, but G FUEL uses a unique scoop design and it can be confusing for people who have never used the tubs before to understand how to use it. When you open your tub for the first time, you’ll get a small plastic scoop with an unusual cone-like shape on it. This is an extension that you can take off.
It’s a sort of reverse funnel that you use when you want to put the powder in a water bottle with a narrow opening. So instead of putting a funnel in the bottle, you just attach the funnel extension to your scoop.
Do not fill up this extension with powder! You’ll be almost doubling the serving size accidentally. The 7g serving size is the actual scoop part, not the scoop with the funnel.
If you’re sure the scoop isn’t the problem, you can try filling up your bottle halfway with warm or hot water.
If that isn’t working, be sure you are putting in the powder AFTER the water, like with protein powder. This will prevent the powder from having the chance to stick to the cup and “protect” itself.
FAQs
All G FUEL tubs include a 1 serving scooper inside. Each scoop is 1 tablespoon.
Currently, G FUEL tubs do not come with a shaker cup. They must be purchased separately from the G FUEL website or from Amazon.
Conclusion
This is still going to be an experimental process for you. It’s just going to take playing around with the water amount and mixing methods until you land on one that you like the best.
You can always make this process easier by just buying the individually wrapped energy formula powder packets. Each packet is made for 16oz (500ml) of water. They were made to go into G FUEL’s 16oz shaker bottles.
